Middle School Athletic Offerings

The Athletic User Fee for all middle school sports is $100.00. This fee is applies to each sport a student participates in and payment of the user fee does not guarantee playing time.  The user fee is waived for those families who qualify for the Free/Reduce Lunch Program (Please select this option when registering your athlete). Payment should be made no later than the 1st day of practice. Families registering have the option to pay online at the time of registration (*additional fee applies), or can pay via personal check. 
 
Fall

Boys and Girls Cross Country
During the fall students in grades 5-8 are able to participate on our Cross Country Team. Practices are held three times a week, and students learn the skills necessary to be a successful runner. We are very lucky at Hawthorne Brook to have an extensive cross country course around us.

Girls Field Hockey 
During the fall female athletes in grades 5-8 are able to participate on our Field Hockey Team. Practices are held 3-4 times a week. The fundamentals of the game is the main focus of the program. The team will compete against many of the Central Mass. area middle schools.

Winter

Boys and Girls Basketball 
Interscholastic basketball program during the winter season for girls and boys in Grades 6-8. The teams compete against many of the Central Mass. area middle schools in a 12-14 game season. Tryouts for both teams are held in early November, and the season ends by February Vacation. Practices and games are held daily after school throughout the season, Monday through Friday.

Spring

Boys and Girls Track and Field
On average well over 50 students take part in our track program in the spring. Track is open to students in grades 5-8 and practices are held 2-3 times a week, with a competition meet blended in.  Some of the events students are able to participate in are shot put, discus, long jump and the high jump. Running events include the 100M, 200M and 4x100M relay. Long distance runners can choose between the 400M, 800M and the mile run.
